SEA SCOUT SHIP 25 CABIN BOY & CABIN GIRL PROGRAM

Picture
In the old days, when square-rigged tall ships ruled the seas, Cabin Boys were some of the youngest people aboard boats. The primary task that was given to them was to become familiar with the sails and lines and to learn the use of each in all sorts of weather. They would even begin to stand watch like other crewmen or act as helmsman in good weather, holding the wheel to keep the ship steady on her course. In other words, they were tasked with learning how to sail.

In Ship 25, we continue that maritime tradition by opening up our program to boys and girls who are not yet sufficient age to become full crew members of Ship 25 but who are registered in good standing with a Scouts BSA Troop. They may petition to be considered Cabin Boys or Cabin Girls with Sea Scout Ship 25 provided they agree to adhere to the guiding principles of the Scout Oath, the Scout Law, and the Sea Promise and state their intention to join the ship when they are of sufficient age. Cabin Boy and Cabin Girl status shall confer no special privilege other than eligibility to be invited to participate in selected Ship 25 activities as deemed appropriate by the Ship Officers.
